Kapil is built for private relationships. This policy explains what information VovenTech processes, why we need it, who can receive it, and the choices you have.

Plain-language summary: Kapil uses information to run the relationship features you choose, sync your shared space, keep the service secure, send requested notifications, and diagnose failures. We do not sell your personal information, show third-party advertising, or use your Kapil activity for cross-app advertising tracking.

Scope and who is responsible

This Privacy Policy applies to the Kapil Journey mobile application, the Kapil website, and related services (together, “Kapil” or the “Service”). Kapil is developed and operated by VovenTech (“VovenTech,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). VovenTech is responsible for the processing described in this policy.

This policy does not govern third-party services that you access independently, even when Kapil links to them. Their own terms and privacy policies apply.

Information we process

The information we process depends on the features you use and the permissions you grant.

Account and profile

Email address, name, authentication identifiers, profile photo, sign-in provider, birth date, language, theme, and account settings.

Relationship setup

Partner connection, invite codes, relationship stage and setup, relationship start date, onboarding goal, and reminder preferences.

Content you create

Messages, answers, reactions, mood check-ins, voice notes, photos, videos, memories, events, locations, lists, date ideas, quiz responses, and shared-expense entries.

Location and calendar

Precise location or saved coordinates when you choose location features, plus calendar event details you explicitly import or export.

Device and notifications

App and device information, operating system, push token, notification permission and preferences, local widget configuration, and connectivity state.

Diagnostics and support

Crash reports, app version, error context, user/account identifier where configured, and information you send when asking for support.

Information stored only on your device

Kapil also stores certain preferences, session information, cached data, offline changes, notification settings, widget data, and device-calendar mapping identifiers locally. Some locally stored information may later sync to the Service when needed for a feature you use.

Information from other sources

We may receive basic account information from Apple or Google when you use their sign-in services, information shared by your connected partner through Kapil, and technical information from our infrastructure and diagnostics providers.

We do not use relationship content, messages, precise location, photos, voice recordings, or mood information for targeted advertising. Kapil currently contains no third-party advertising.

Your connected partner

Kapil is designed around a private, partner-linked space. When you connect with a partner, information intended for the shared experience may be visible to that partner, including messages, answers, reactions, mood check-ins you choose to share, events, shared lists, shared expenses, and non-private memories.

Content marked private is intended to remain visible only to you. Please choose your connected partner carefully. A recipient may save or copy information they can view; deleting it from Kapil cannot remove copies already saved outside the Service.

Service providers and other disclosures

We disclose information only as reasonably necessary for the Service, as directed by you, or as required by law. Recipients may include:

  • Your connected partner, as explained above.
  • Supabase, for authentication, database, file storage, realtime synchronization, and backend functions.
  • Sentry, when enabled, for crash reporting and diagnostics.
  • Expo and platform push services, to deliver notifications you enable.
  • Apple and Google, when you use platform sign-in, maps/geocoding, app distribution, or other operating-system services.
  • Professional advisers and authorities, when reasonably necessary to comply with law, defend rights, prevent harm, or address fraud and security.
  • A successor or transaction participant, in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar transaction, subject to appropriate safeguards.

We require service providers to handle information for the services they provide and to maintain protections consistent with applicable law. We do not sell or rent personal information.

Device permissions and optional access

Kapil requests device access only when relevant to a feature:

  • Location: to use your current location, geocode a place, or save a location with a memory. Location access is foreground-only based on the current app design.
  • Photos and media: to select a profile photo or media you choose to attach to a memory or message.
  • Microphone: to record a voice note you choose to send.
  • Calendar: to add Kapil events to your device calendar or import selected upcoming event details into Kapil.
  • Notifications: to deliver message alerts, event reminders, and relationship reminders you enable.

You can deny or revoke these permissions in your device settings. Core account access does not require you to grant unrelated optional permissions, though the corresponding feature may not work without its required access.

Retention and security

We retain account information and user content while your account is active and as needed to provide Kapil. Specific records may be retained for shorter or longer periods based on their purpose, your settings, deletion requests, backup cycles, security needs, dispute resolution, and legal obligations.

We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including authenticated access, encrypted network transmission, database access controls, and storage policies. No system can guarantee absolute security, so you should also protect your device and account credentials.

Account and data deletion

Delete from the app

Open Kapil → Profile → Delete Account and follow the confirmation steps. The deletion process removes your account, authentication sessions, profile, partner connection, push tokens, and associated content handled by the deletion workflow. It may also remove shared conversations or items and disconnect your partner.

Request deletion outside the app

If you cannot access the app, submit a deletion request through the VovenTech contact form. State that the request concerns Kapil account deletion and provide the email address used for your Kapil account. We may need to verify that you control the account before completing the request.

Deletion is intended to be permanent. Limited information may remain temporarily in protected backups, security logs, or a minimal deletion audit, and may be retained where required for legal compliance, fraud prevention, security, or the establishment or defense of legal claims. Such retained information is restricted to those purposes.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or obtain a portable copy of personal information, and to withdraw consent. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.

  • Update profile and preference information in Kapil.
  • Change notification, location, photo, microphone, and calendar permissions in device settings.
  • Delete individual content where the app provides that control.
  • Delete your account using the process above.
  • Contact us for other privacy requests.

We may ask you to verify your identity and may limit or deny a request where permitted by law, such as when necessary to protect another person’s rights.

International processing

VovenTech and its service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. Where required, we use legally recognized transfer mechanisms or other appropriate safeguards.

Children

Kapil is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If local law requires a higher age for a person to consent to data processing, a parent or legal guardian must provide any required consent. If you believe a child has provided information contrary to this section, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy as Kapil changes or as legal requirements evolve. We will update the date at the top and provide additional notice when a change is material and applicable law requires it.
